A program prepared by KPFK music director, William Malloch, on the orchestral music of Silvestre Revueltas, the colorful Mexican composer. Malloch illustrates the composer’s tendency to orchestrate Mexican folk music and compares two performances of “Sensemayá” in which the tempos of the piece varies dramatically. Also included is the broadcast of a rare recording of a lengthy suite compiled by the conductor Jose Limantour, from Revueltas’ music to the film “La Noche de los Mayas”. (from KPFA Folio)
