An Informal Conversation with Harvey Matusow and Friends

Listen
Item Type: Sound Recording Duration: 48 mins
Event Type: Lecture / Panel Discussion Program Origin: KPFA

On December 18, 1972 in the KPFA Control Room a group of people got together for an informal and unstructured conversation. The jovial group included KPFA Music Director Charles Amirkhanian, Sheila and Larry Booth of Half Moon Bay, composer Annea Lockwood and her husband at that time, Harvey Matusow. Sounding more like friends at a party rather than any official type of radio show, the group listens as Matusow, (inventor of the stringless yo-yo, former informant for the House Committee on Un-American Activities, impresario and clown), offers an alternative view of famous American figures, and phones people at random to discover their problems. The rest of the group occasionally join in for some spontaneous and improvised words from their sponsors. Towards the end of the program they are joined by John Lifton and Pamela Zoline.
