Pamela Z is a San Francisco based composer/performer and audio artist who works primarily with voice, live electronic processing, and sampling technology. She is well known both regionally and nationally for her unique performances in which she layers her operatic voice with digital sound processors and a MIDI controller called the BodySynth that allows her to access electronic samples through gestural movement. The vocalizations in “Bone Music” were born from an exploration of the character of an anthropologist for an earlier work called “Circle of Bone”. All the sounds in this piece were created live using various shades of processing on the voice, and the shifting rhythms of found percussion in three separate delay loops. |
