“Rapture” is in one continuous movement preoccupied with the idea and expression of expansion, stretching upwards and flying outwards. At one point in the piece there is a reference to Celtic music, and it was only on the day of the première, which took place in Cumbria, that the composer discovered that on a clear day, one could look over the horizon and see the hills of Scotland. |
