“Mirrors” was written in Amsterdam while Vargas was studying with Klaas de Vries. The title being in a language other than Portuguese is related to this fact. In “Mirrors” he made use for the last time of a twelve-note series, but with what lack of discipline! So it is a musical gesture of a very un-Germanic kind. |
