Members of The Circle Trio make music by tuning psychically to a channeled source of connection that guides their musical improvisation. Pauline Oliveros has been a pioneer in the practice of meditation pieces for performers and "audiences", and has developed the concept of Deep Listening, a kind of collective improvisation involving zen-like focus on sound production and interaction during performance. The result is group composition in real time that takes on a heightened clarity and power. Tonight she introduces a new work with virtuoso improvisers India Cooke, a jazz violinist well-loved by Bay Area audiences, and Karolyn van Putten, formerly a member of Bobbie McFerrin's Voicestra.
