On November 30, 1970, Per Nørgård, the then 38 year old Danish composer, talked with Charles Amirkhanian in the KPFA studio. Nørgård discusses his early studies with Vagn Holmboe and others and explains his system of music composition known as the "infinity row", which can generate compositions of any duration up to and including a millennium. These works which also have numerous layers and sub-layers constituted his output at that time. Musical selections include: “Inscape”, “The Enchanted Forest”, and “Voyage Into the Golden Screen”. Note: During this recording there was occasional electrical interference which is noticeable but does not impair the listening experience to any great degree. |
