|
| Item Type: Sound Recording |
Duration: 61 min |
| Event Type: Interview and Music |
Program Origin: KPFA |
Dan McClosky interviews Little Milton, the well-known blues guitarist and soul singer. Little Milton got his musical education, as did many rhythm and blues artists of his age, in the black churches of the South. In this wide ranging interview he describes his humble beginnings and his early fascination with the guitar, as well as discussing the various blues musicians that influenced him. The interview is peppered with excerpts of many of the songs and performers mentioned, including those by T-Bone Walker, B. B. King, Fats Domino, and many, many more. Little Milton also talks about the surprising need of black musicians to play country and western music in the white clubs in order to make money on the weekdays. Most of this program deals with Little Milton describing how he got his start, and traces his move from one record label to another. |
