On October 7, 1976, at the San Francisco’s Conservatory of Music’s Hellman Hall, the ensemble New Beginnings, performed “Thank You, Thelonious,” a composition by Neil B. Rolnick. The work, which is scored for trumpet, trombone, cello, cimbalom, and percussion, mixes the New Music aesthetic with some distinctly jazz like elements.
