From a fund-raising marathon program, broadcast on May 30, 1991, two performing ensembles with considerable importance to the San Francisco Bay Area world music scene, are heard in a couple of concerts recorded in the KPFA studio. Parveneh is a five member ensemble performing Persian classical and folk music. Yasha! is an ensemble specializing in Turkish music and is led by vocalist Latif Bolat, who also plays the baglama saz. Charles Amirkhanian hosts this special broadcast. |
