In this program, recorded in 1966, host Ann McMillan talks with the Chinese-born composer and long-time teacher at Columbia University, Chou Wen-Chung. Chou Wen-Chung describes his music as an attempt to capture the same emotionality of Chinese poetry, calligraphy, and landscape painting. While presenting many of his compositions, McMillan also reads translations of several of the poems that served as the inspiration for the works.
