Charles Amirkhanian plays a selection of music released by the Wergo label in Germany. Specializing in contemporary classical music, often with an avant-garde edge, Wergo Records was founded in 1962 by the art historian Werner Goldschmidt. Works heard in this program range from the electronic music of Herbert Eimert, harpsichord music by György Ligeti, an absolutely fantastic operatic cover of the Beatles song, “Ticket to Ride” performed by vocalist extraordinaire, Cathy Berberian, who also provides the vocals for Roman Haubenstock-Ramati’s “Credentials, or Think Think, Lucy”.
