Ode To Gravity: New Music from Uruguay |
|
Item Type: Sound Recording |
Duration: 124 min |
Event Type: Interview and Music |
Program Origin: KPFA |
Illustrating the truly international character of the electronic music revolution, here are the works of two fascinating and talented composers from Montevideo, Uruguay. Coriún Aharonián and Graciela Paraskevaidis (of Armenian and Greek background, receptively) are native Uruguayans who have been among the most active organizers of new music activity in South America since the 1970s. This husband and wife team are among the most talented electro-acoustic composers active anywhere, as illustrated in this program surveying their works. Charles Amirkhanian introduces the American broadcast premiers of a number of their works as well as playing excerpts from an interview recorded with Aharonián in Stockholm on October 9-10, 1982.
