San Francisco Chamber Music Society:
1973 Christmas Concert

Listen
Item Type: Sound Recording Duration: 50 min
Event Type: Music Program Origin: KPFA

Larry Jackson presents the first half of the San Francisco Chamber Music Society’s 1973 Christmas Concert, which he recorded on December 9, 1973 at the Lone Mountain College Chapel in San Francisco. The music includes Christmas theme choral works by a wide variety of 19th and 20th century composers, including Charles Ives, Johannes Brahms, David Kraehenbuehl, John Panyter, and Claude Debussy, and others, all performed by the Oakland Symphony Chamber Chorus under the direction of Joseph Liebling. In addition, organist Wyatt Insko plays a number of works. Taken all together this concert is a wonderful blend of modern and traditional Christmas music.

Note: Unfortunately this is only the first half of the concert and some of the performers and pieces mentioned at the start are not included.
