One in a series of programs produced by Clark Coolidge that feature the works of late 20th century poets, sound poets, and authors. This recording is of two readings by Larry Fagin, one held in San Francisco in February 1969 and the other made in New York City in September 1969. Fagin was a member of the New York School of poets that included Ron Padgett, Tom Veitch, Anne Waldman, Lewis Warsh, and others. This selection of short poems, mostly about everyday events and observances, are representative of Fagin’s work during the 1960s. In the 1970s Fagin was co-director of the St. Mark's Poetry Project in New York City, and he edited a poetry magazine, “Adventures in Poetry.” He later became a teacher at the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado, and has worked extensively with children in public schools. Note: Contains some profanity. Names of poems taken from the authors introductions and may not exactly match those found in published books. |
