The vocal quartet, Deborah Kavasch, soprano, Linda Vickerman, alto, Ed Harkins, tenor, and Philip Larson, bass-baritone, perform a selection of works for unaccompanied amplified voice, as well as works for tape and voice, and one piece, Robert Erickson’s “Kyrl,” which is scored for trumpet and voice. The ensemble, which formed in the mid 1970s, specializes in producing an amazing variety of vocal sounds all without any electronic enhancement or manipulation. During the intermission the members of EVTE discuss their work and give examples of the techniques they use to create their music.
